Alyssa Penner

(Yoga Instructor)

I was born and raised on a farm in the rural Acme/Linden area, living an active and outdoor lifestyle. This love of movement drove my interests, and I have always hoped to pursue an avenue in health and wellness.  Fast forward to 2013 and my journey led me to a relationship with Yoga, and my mat became my sanctuary. Yoga began as a physical practice, but the sense of calm I experienced after each class is what continued to draw me back.  The tools I began cultivating through my Yoga practice, started to work their way into my life off the mat; and for the first time I was able to relax both my body and anxious mind, and stay grounded while facing times of adversity and challenge.  Along the way, Yoga has become more than a physical workout, but rather an entire lifestyle.

In 2016 I decided to delve deeper into the practice and completed my 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training under Banyan Gallagher in Costa Rica. In 2017 I also completed trainings in Yoga Nidra, Kids Yoga and an Art of Teaching Mentorship program. I look forward to continuing to expand and grow through more learning opportunities in the future. My desire to share my passion began with offering classes in my parents front yard, followed by turning their shop into my personal yoga studio (who knew a shop had the potential to be Zen).  Soon thereafter I had the opportunity to move my classes to Altitude Fitness, and I am excited to officially be part of this team.  I believe yoga is for everyone, and my desire is to encourage, motivate and assist participants in feeling more grounded, connected and aware of their bodies; helping to develop a positive relationship for overall wellbeing.
